Meet Katie
Katie (Wagner) Washnok earned her formal education at the University of South Dakota, where she studied Political Science and began building the foundation for a lifelong commitment to leadership, service, and community.
Today, along with her husband, James, Katie owns and operates Blackout Industries, a globally recognized leader in the custom motorcycle and aftermarket automotive design and manufacturing industries. Beyond their business ventures, James is a third-generation farmer; together, the Washnoks continue a proud family legacy operating the farm near Verdon, South Dakota.
Katie’s roots in the Republican Party run deep - her involvement began long before she was old enough to officially register. Over the years, she has served as State Chairman of the South Dakota Teenage Republicans, National Committeewoman for the South Dakota Young Republicans, member of the South Dakota Federation of Republican Women, and Secretary/Treasurer and Chairman of the Brown County Republicans.
A passionate advocate for community and economic growth, Katie is deeply involved in ensuring Aberdeen and Northeastern South Dakota thrive. She serves as a member and Past President of the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, a Junior Achievement classroom volunteer, member of the Aberdeen Development Corporation Executive Board of Directors, BIG Idea committee member, and an active member of Aldersgate Church, where she serves on the Administrative Board and as a worship leader.
Katie, James, and their two children, Jett and Whitley, proudly call Aberdeen home.
Now, building on her lifelong commitment to public service and community, Katie is ready to bring her experience, values, and common-sense leadership to Pierre, representing District 3 and the greater Aberdeen area as your next State Senator.
